Bio
I studied economics and management in a double degree between Edinburgh Napier University and Universite Sorbonne Paris Nord, then completed an MSc in Business Analysis and Consulting at the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where I was trained in operational research and cognitive mapping methods.
My path into data and IT started in a university library in Paris, where I stumbled on technical analysis of financial markets. The idea that recurring patterns in price data could reflect herd behaviour — and that those patterns could be modelled — stuck with me. It connected with a teenage fascination for Isaac Asimov’s psychohistory: the notion that large-scale human behaviour might be understood through data. I started using charting software (MetaStock), quickly felt limited by it, and decided to learn to code so I could work with raw data on my own terms. That led me to IT and development roles, data science and eventually to data engineering.
Over twelve years I moved from business analysis and application support into data science, then into building and running cloud data platforms. Most recently I led a data engineering team at GeoPost, designing and operating a lakehouse on open-source technologies. I am now deepening my expertise in Microsoft Azure — I passed the Fabric Data Engineer Associate certification in early 2026 — and working on cloud-based analytics projects while looking for my next professional challenge in France or Thailand.
Interests
Outside of work, I read a lot of science fiction and fantasy. I actively trade equity and index markets on weekly and monthly timeframes, combining semi-automated signals with visual chart analysis — a continuation of the curiosity that got me into data in the first place. I apply cognitive mapping to both professional problems and personal thinking, a habit that started at Strathclyde and never stopped. When I can, I hike — the Pyrenees in southern France are a favourite.
